It has been in the arm for a VERY long time. There is no nerve in the cyst itself but it is always very hard to numb the area to actually remove the cyst. Most of it is skin that has flaked off into the sack. The sack of the cyst needs to be removed completely and because it has been in the man so long it has molded to his own skin. If you don’t remove the whole casing the chances of it returning is much higher. This can also happen when the cyst has been squeezed before because this might leave some of the tissue behind which forms another cyst later.

What can also happen is that you sometimes get some calcium deposits in the cyst itself. It feels like something hard in the cyst.

The problem after removing the cyst is to get the skin flat again, as the shape has changed the skin so much. So a lot of the skin itself also needs to be removed to get the skin flat again.
